Honeycombe House - Access Statement

What is an Access Statement?
An Access Statement is a written, clear and accurate, and above all honest description of our current facilities and the services we offer, to enable a potential visitor to make an informed decision as to whether our business meets their particular access needs.

Introduction
Honeycombe House is located at the top of a steep narrow hill leading from the village of Mevagissey. The house enjoys breathtaking panoramic views overlooking this
Cornish fishing village, with magnificent views of Mevagissey Bay directly to the East and views of open sea to the South East. The house is of Victorian construction built around 1892 and has twenty steps leading from the road outside to the front door. The guest dining room is located on the ground floor, however our two guest bedrooms are located on the first floor.
Our location might make access for people with limited mobility a difficulty.

Pre-arrival
• We regret we are unable to accommodate children below the age of 10 years old. Well behaved children aged 10 years and above are very welcome when accompanied by an adult.
• We are located a 5 minute walk from the village of Mevagissey, and both cars and taxis can stop outside momentarily to unload passengers and luggage. Access to the front door is either via twenty steps from the road or via a steep uneven public footpath from the road, (The footpath runs directly in front of the house leading up to a quiet residential road behind the house.)
• Shops, post office, cafes, restaurants and pubs are located in the nearby village.
• The nearest Bus stop is located next to the Ship Inn in the centre of the village. There are regular buses to neighbouring towns and villages including the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan.
• There are several local taxi companies, for which we can provide telephone numbers or book on your behalf.
• The nearest railway station and coach station are located in St. Austell.

When you reach the junction in the centre of the village with the “Ship Inn” on the corner in front of you, continue straight on and carry on up the hill. (This road is two way traffic believe it or not!) You will find us on the right hand side of the road, just as you reach the top of Polkirt Hill. We are a large cream coloured building next to a steep single-track footpath. You can stop outside (just beyond the steps leading to the front door) momentarily to unload your luggage quite safely.
• We suggest that you DO NOT attempt to drive up the single-track footpath immediately in front of the house.
There is free on street parking on Lower Well Park road a couple of minutes walk along the footpath running past the house. There are also car parks available in the village.
